As your Ward 5 City Councillor, I am proud to see the Cornerstone Fire Station taking shape—a much-needed investment that will significantly improve emergency response times and enhance fire protection in our rapidly growing community.
When I ran as a Ward 5 candidate in 2021, I made community safety a top priority. Since being elected, I have worked hard to push for better emergency services, disaster preparedness, and stronger safety initiatives for our residents. This state-of-the-art facility is a direct result of those efforts.
But the Cornerstone Fire Station is more than just a fire hall—it’s part of a multi-use development that includes:
A household hazardous waste drop-off location, allowing residents to safely dispose of items like paint, oil, propane tanks, and cleaning products.
Planned future affordable housing, ensuring that this development serves our community in multiple ways.
Construction began in early 2024, and completion is expected by spring 2025. This project reflects a comprehensive approach to community development, ensuring that Ward 5 families have the infrastructure, safety, and services they deserve.
In addition to the significant benefits provided by the Cornerstone Fire Station, this project also represents a commitment to fostering community engagement and resilience. I envision the fire station serving as a hub for safety education, where residents can participate in workshops and training sessions focused on emergency preparedness, fire safety, and disaster response.
By equipping our community with knowledge and skills, we can empower families to take proactive measures in safeguarding their homes and loved ones. Moreover, I am committed to ensuring that the fire station works closely with local schools and organizations to promote safety awareness among youth, creating a culture of preparedness that extends beyond the walls of the fire hall.
This holistic approach not only enhances safety but also strengthens community bonds, making Ward 5 a safer, more connected place to live. I will continue to advocate for the investments our community needs—because Ward 5’s safety and well-being will always be my top priority.
